Child poverty

The IFS reports the the reason for the increase in child poverty is mainly among couples with only one worker.

However, there has been a large rise in the risk of poverty for children living
in couple families, driven by those households where one adult worked
full-time and the other did not work and by those households with no
full-time workers. This may well be related to the slow or negative real
growth in entitlements to benefits and tax credits between 2005–
06 and 2006–07
